Trivia[]
- The name Narchost means "fire tower" in the language of the Sindar.
- It is situated on one side, some say the west (or south), of Cirith Gorgor, the Haunted Pass, on a hill that is at the extreme northern end of the Ephel Dúath (Mountains of Shadow).
- The tower is eventually abandoned when the power of Gondor begins to wane, and then occupied by its enemies.
- It was first referenced by name in J.R.R. Tolkien 's Return of the King.
