The First Age, also known as the Elder Days, is an era in Middle-earth which started with the rise of the Sun and Ñoldor's arrival in Beleriand in Middle-earth, and ended with the banishment of Melkor.
The Era is the shortest of the three ages described by Tolkien, as it only lasted for 587 years. It ended with Morgoth being overthrown by the armies of Valinor and Beleriand. There were six major battles that took place during this time.
