SXSW Qwizards Answers

If you're at SXSW, and are watching the Wikia Qwizards presentation, you know that they've asked you to download the Palantir App to see if you can find the answer to their quiz question.  That answer can be found in this blog.

These enemies are shaped by their encounters with the player to create personal arch-enemies who are unique to every gameplay session. Players must out think each distinctively different enemy they encounter to infiltrate the ranks and dominate within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their actions and choices.

Crafting Udûn: Concept Art Exploration

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor takes place in Mordor, The Land of Shadow, during a time that's never been seen before. Sauron has only just returned to The Black Land, and much of its old-world charm is still intact. And due to that, the art team here at Monolith had a chance to reimagine Mordor and explore what it looked like before Mount Doom scarred the land.

“We use all the tools available to us as artists to invoke that emotional response from the player. Palette, lighting, atmosphere, and silhouette are all part of communicating a sense of immersion and overall tone,” said Art Director, Philip Straub, when describing this early look at Udûn, just one area within Mordor that you'll explore in-game. “During the time in which our story ta…

Official Shadow of Mordor Community Unveiled

What evil lies in the shadow of Mordor? Uruk? The Nazgûl? The rising tide of Sauron’s army?

Well… yes. But that’s not what I’m talking about. What I’m referring to is an exciting new video game and corresponding Wikia Official Community! Neither of which are “evil,” I might add.

In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (coming to current- and next-gen consoles in 2014), players take on the role of Talion – a valiant ranger whose family is slain the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, moments before his own life is taken. Resurrected by a Spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who’ve wronged him. Through the course of Talion’s personal vendetta, players uncover the truth…
